The mid-1960s Spanish "invasion" by Bultaco, Montesa, and Ossa, effectively curtailed a near monopoly by Greeves on the UK trials scene. The Thundersley firm's response was the Anglian, initially available with "banana" forks, and later with "teles", which riders began fitting retrospectively after REH and others started offering Ceriani style front suspension at a reasonable price. Thereafter, for a couple of seasons, the Anglian helped regain some of Greeves' former glory, thanks to the 37A Villiers engine remaining fairly competitive, especially if fitted with Greeves' own Challenger cylinder barrel
