Description

Honda CB400 Four 1977. In 2008 the engine was taken out and sent to SEP Kegworth in Derbyshire for a total rebuild with OEM parts costing £1500. Also had new stainless rims and spokes from CWC in Coleshill (£600). Its only done 500 miles since the engine work was done, so the engine isn’t run in yet.

New pattern headlight (halogen) and front brake caliper, lever and reservoir from David Silver. Runs a Dynatek electronic ignition. Reliable custom fuse setup, as the old fuse box was flaky. Box section Dresda swing arm and Paioli CR2 shocks. New Avon Roadrunners, new chain and sprockets. The new Reg/Rec is in the toolbox. Seat is good, chrome good. Forks are perfect. Carbs ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt by an expert in Holland. New Honda silencer, new ignition barrel, so two keys, different (original) one for the seat. New left switchgear.

Original tank, no rust inside, a couple of dings either side due to an experiment with clubman bars, otherwise the original paint is great for its age. Started up regularly, original owners handbook, lots of history. Starts on the button or kickstart, runs smoothly and quietly. Smooth gear change.(1000 since the rebuild).

Comes with a big file of receipts and history confirming the work carried out. A very well cared for example that's ready to ride and enjoy with many upgrades as mentioned. A very usable everyday classic and a fantastic investment.
